Block02 Part11 ~ Painting from Direct Observation #1

At this point in Block02, the lessons move from only learning and then doing Proportional Drawings to adding the element of painting what we draw. We are still working in Gray Scale paint for these paintings and employing all the skills we have learned in previous lessons.

You can also see from the first Still Life setup that I have gotten all of my Styrofoam pieces painted. This has made determining the value of the Shadow and Lights more difficult, but that is all good skills to add to my repertoire.

By now, I am using the Draftsman's Divider, and it seems to be having a better influence on my measurements for the drawings. In this work, my measurements are not perfect, because I am still learning how to use the Divider, but it is very much easier to use than the knitting needle had been. I have better control over the measurements using it.

Even though my measurement is off for the cone (it was a bit too tall), I am more comfortable with the appearance of my drawing. My Values were off, though, so I still need to work on being more observant of that. Gradients were spot on!
