Block02 Part03 ~ First Proportional Line Drawing

For this lesson, we had to do our first proportion drawing. I was using the knitting needle at this point (it was before I got the Draftsman's Divider), so my measurements were off by quite a bit. The can was too tall and the pot was both too wide and too tall. We needed to take a photo of the Drawing/Shadow Box Still Life set up that we created, followed by a small thumbnail that we drew using the knitting needle for measurements, and finally by drawing a larger picture from the thumbnail using the measurements from that thumbnail to create what could be used as the beginning of a painting.

For the first ten (10) drawings, we did not paint the Still Life's that we drew. we were only doing the Proportional Drawings to practice the drawing skill. Here are my renderings of the photo, thumbnail and drawing:

It is very evident that my measurements are not correct, even though the drawing does not look terrible. In time, I came to see that it was because of my lack of control over the hand that had been affected by the stroke. Someone without the disability like mine would probably do really well using the knitting needle to find measurements.
