Block02 Part01 ~ How to Measure

This was harder than I imagined, but I practiced an entire day and evening. I think I got it. I did make a document chart to remind myself what needed to be measured and included a photo of it.  The video says the outline is in our kit, but I didn't have it, so I made my own.

I did have a walking stick from a previous surgery that I adjusted to use to stabilize my hand. It worked very well to help me get better dimensions. It did happen to be a bit cumbersome when transferring the measurement to a drawing sheet, so I had to find a different manner of getting measurements.

What finally worked for my situation was to purchase a Draftsman's Divider tool. It didn't require me to keep the fingers in place on the knitting needle to transfer measurements. The Divider stays in place between movements once I get it set. You can find lots of YouTube videos showing how to use this tool, if it is something that you think might help you with Proportional Drawing. Below are two of the Dividers that I purchased. The larger one works best when using the Drawing/Shadow Box. It is adjustable to measure various sizes and can be used to enlarge or reduce the size of items in the Drawing/Shadow Box.
